1. Remove the inside door trim on the lock side of the door jamb.
2. Remove the screws that retain the strike plate, and check for excessive damage (i.e. rotten wood, etc.) ** See image 3.
3. Carefully slide "Kwik jam™" over the door jamb frame and into place between the interior wall next to the strike side jamb.
(jamb side with the lock holes). ** See image 6.
NOTE: In some cases removal of a shim may be necessary.
4. Next, line up "Kwik Jam™" so that the long slots (inside edge/room side) meet evenly with
the door jamb strike holes while making sure that the "Kwik Jam" slides clearly between the
jamb and door seal (slight bending may be needed). ** See image 7.
"Kwik Jam™" is designed with to be easy to install, although some installations
may require the pre-drilling
of the mounting holes depending on the age and condition of the installation area.
5. Hold flush to existing door jamb and using a short screw, mount the "Kwik Jam™" with
one of the upper holes, tighting enough for door clearance. ** See image 8.
6. While gently pushing "Kwik Jam™" at the bottom edge, close the door and check for correct
lock contact. When satisfied, insert the 3 1/2 inch screws
to tighten and complete the installation.
